Unbelievable one-in-a-million sighting of Manta Rays on the morning of Saturday, August 31! Here’s a first look at one of them. We counted 4 Manta Rays just a couple miles off of Dana Point Harbor. In 13 years of operating trips with Dolphin Safari, Captain Tom has never seen these animals on one of our trips. Truly a rare and special encounter!

A variety of conditions came together to bring about this incredible sighting: warm water and air (probably the warmest all summer), food (Mantas are filter feeders), and flat ocean conditions.

Manta rays are the largest rays and can reach widths of over 20 feet.
